Featuring L’Oréal-UNESCO FOR WOMEN in SCIENCE 2014 Laureates

The For Women in Science program is the result of a partnership between a multinational corporation, L’Oréal, via its corporate Foundation, and an international organization, UNESCO, both of which share a common goal: Publicizing the accomplishments of women scientists.

For the past 16 years the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science program has recognized and honored 2000 exceptional women scientists from 115 countries, 82 awards laureates for their excellence in science and 1920 young women granted fellowships to pursue promising research. The outstanding achievements of these laureates have contributed to the advancement of scientific knowledge and helped change the world for the better.

The 2014 L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards Laureates are five women researchers that have made major discoveries in neurobiology, immunology and ecology.They are 1) Dr. Segenet Kelemu, Africa & Arab States; 2) Prof. Laurie Glimcher, North America; 3) Prof. Cecilia Bouzat, Latin America; 4) Prof. Kayo Inaba, Asia & Pacific; and 5) Prof. Brigitte Kiffer, Europe.

15 Young Women Scientist were also awarded 2014 fellowships. They are 1) Emma Gray, South Africa, 2) Tania Pozzo, Bolivia, 3) Francisca Barake, Chile, 4) Katalin Czondor, Hungary, 5) Selena Gimenez Ibañez, Spain, 6) Mio Ozawa, Japan, 7) Alia Shatanawi, Jordan, 8) Aramide Dolapo Oshingboye, Nigeria, 9) Bhama Ramkhelawon, Maurutius, 10) Gul Shahnaz, Pakistan, 11)Sandra Lopez-Verges, Panama, 12) Adila Elobeid, Sudan, 13) Jingmei Li, Singapore, 14) Farah Ouechtati, Tunisia, 15) Ahu Arslan Yildiz, Turkey.
