Musician

Born into a musical family,Sweekar started learning sitar at an early age from his father Dr.sunil katti, a well known sitar and santoor player & a music composer.He continues to do so till date. His mother Dr.Vandana Katti is a well known vocalist of the Jaipur atrauli gharana. Sweekar belongs to the ‘Etawah gharana’ and hence follows the immensely appealing ‘Gayaki ang’ style of playing. Sweekar is a Commerce graduate.

As an upcoming artist of great promise he has bagged a number of prizes in inter collegiate and other competitions.some of them being:

  • Swar Sadhana All India Music competitions.(2004)
  • Sharda Sangeet vidyalaya music competitions.(2005)
  • Enigma-Inter collegiate competitions (podar college).(2006)
  • Aarohan(Ruia college).(2008)
  • Umang(NM college).(2009)
  • Mood Indigo(IIT Powai).(2009)

He has won Gold medal in the Youth festival organized by the ‘Mumbai University’.(2008)
He has won Gold medal in ‘Indradhanushya’, an Inter university youth festival held at nashik.
Sweekar has also won prizes at west zone inter university youth festival held at Anand Gujarat.
He has also won the prestigious ‘Avides classical talent competition’ organized by Sangeet martand Pt.Jasraj held at Newyork (USA) in November 2010.
He has received scholarship from Ministry of culture Govt of India under the scheme under the scheme of scholarship to young artists for the year 2009-10.
Sweekar is a Sangeet Visharad of Gandharva mahavidyalaya.

Sweekar has given solo performances in places like:
1. Youth festival organized by ITC-SRA in collaboration with ‘Swarankit’(Nalasopara).
2. Youth festival organized by Dadar matunga cultural centre.
3. Youth festival organized by Sangeet Sabha Bandra.
4. Swar Uday kala rasik mandal thane.

6. Mahatma Gandhi sewa trust (Bandra).
7. Vedic Heritage Indian classical music and dance festival(USA).
8. Kusumagraj pratishthan (nashik).
9. The Holi Festival(lonavala).
10. Maharashtra Sewa sangh (mulund).

Despite his young age,Sweekar comes across as a mature artist.With his talent and dedication he promises to carve out a place for himself amongst the leading sitarists of the next generation.
